Kingston Extended Primary Care Service

Kingston GP Chambers set up this service in October 2016 at the request of Kingston Clinical Commissioning group (Kingston CCG) to replace the Gosbury Hill GP Clinic in Chessington which closed at the end of September 2016.

The service was established to give all Kingston patients’ access to a General Practitioner (GP) at the weekend when their own surgery is closed. The service initially opened at Surbiton Health Centre on a Saturday and Sunday from 8am–2pm but increased to 8am – 8pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays in November 2016 due to an increase in demand. Patients can call 020 3841 9942 to book an appointment with a GP.

When patients are seen in the service, the doctor that sees them has full access to their medical record, as held by their Borough of Kingston GP. This is on the basis that the patient gives their consent to access. This will allow the doctor to see any past history or current medications that may be affecting the condition being reviewed and also supports the seamless transfer of information between the community Clinics and the patients own registered GP.

Hub Locations

In February 2017 the service expanded again to operate from three locations within the Borough of Kingston upon Thames;

  • Surbiton Health Centre, Ewell Road, Surbiton, Surrey KT6 6EZ - click here for SHC directions
  • Kingston Health Centre, 10 Skerne Road, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey KT2 5AD - click here for KHC directions
  • Merritt Medical Centre, Merritt Gardens, Chessington, Surrey KT9 2GY - click here for MMC directions

We continue to provide a GP on a Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays from 08:00 – 20:00. These appointments can be pre-booked by the patient’s own practice or booked directly on the day by calling 020 3841 9942 or booked direct by 111.

The service also provides appointments to see a GP, should a patient be unable to book an appointment with their own practice, Monday to Friday 18:30 to 20:00 at each of the three locations. These appointments are booked by the patient’s own practice, and can be booked up to 5 days in advance.
