  • NHSE announced that GPs must offer all face to face appointments without negotiating this in the contract with GP surgeries who are all private businesses. We have been 'open' to our patients throughout the pandemic but the main doors must remain closed to ensure safe care for patients, staff and to reduce the spread of infection.  We ask you to wait to be invited in by a member of the Central Team.
  • We now have installed a buzzer intercom for each surgery. Please use the button for Central Surgery and hold the button down the whole time you are talking to the receptionist.


NEW Think NHS 111 service launches 

As of this week, anyone who needs urgent, but not life-threatening care should call NHS 111 before turning up to an emergency department. If, following a conversation with NHS 111, it is appropriate for someone to attend the emergency department they may be scheduled a time to attend.

A London-wide advertising campaign has launched to support this, and we are backing this up locally in Kingston.

Thinking NHS 111 First will;

  • help people get to the most appropriate service – such as a GP, a GP hub or Teddington Hospital appointment – when they may not have to attend the emergency department; 
  • minimise the risk of contracting COVID-19 by helping patients with non-emergency conditions to avoid having to wait for hours in waiting rooms.
  • shorter waiting times ​via a booked appointment or referral to another appropriate service 
  • safe social distancing in hospital to protect you and others from COVID-19​.



We are pleased to offer our patients a new service from Mrs Sam Bhide who has recently joined our team as a First Contact Practitioner (FCP) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

Her role is to triage, diagnose and give our patients expert advice regarding musculoskeletal conditions. She can carry out injections, recommend blood and diagnostic tests. 

If she assesses that you need further treatment with a physiotherapist she will refer you into the physio service at Kingston Hospital. Please note that she is not your physiotherapist, her role is to triage to assist the GP.

She can be booked by speaking directly with one of our reception team on 020 8399 6622.

Due to COVID there is no longer a walk in service at Kingston Hospital and is by appointment only. Therefore, you will have to call them first before going there.

The surgery though is still undertaking blood tests as they have always done.


The Government has announced that all clinically vulnerable patients are eligible for a free supply of vitamin D. All eligible patients should have received a letter with information on how to apply. If you have not received your letter, please follow this link Free Vit D


The Young Women’s Trust supports women aged between 18-30 who are feeling particularly isolated at the moment. 

In addition, they offer free telephone coaching, help to build strong mental health, set goals to stay motivated and a free service giving personalised, detailed feedback on CVs and job applications. 

The service operates by triaging over the telephone and by email.

Dear Patients of Central Surgery, 

I am announcing my retirement as a Partner from Central Surgery. My last working day will be the 31/03/2021.

I started working at Central as a locum in 1993 and progressed to Partner in 2000. However, the time has come now for me to step down and hang up my stethoscope!

It has been an absolute privilege to look after the patients of Central Surgery and work with such a great team. I take away with me many happy and memorable moments.
