Bookings now being taken for Flu vaccinations

We are holding a designated Flu clinic on Saturday 12th October 2024 between 11am - 4pm. Please try and book using the online booking link that was sent to you via text message to save calling and speaking to Reception where possible. When booking your appointment, please make a note of your time. If you are eligable for the covid vaccine this will also be offered to you on the 12th. 

FLU & COVID VACCINES 2024-25

Children age 2 and 3 years olds are being invited by text to self-book an appointment. You can also call us to book an appointment with one of our Patient Advisors. We will start vaccinating Children aged 2-3 towards the end of September 2024.

All other age groups eligable for a Flu or Covid jab, these appointments will start in October 2024. Please keep an eye out on our website and for any text/email communication from us regarding Flu clinics. 

 

ELIGIBLE PATIENTS FOR FLU & COVID VACCINATION PROGRAMME 2024-25

 

Patient eligible for vaccines at Central Surgery:

  • 65 and over - Flu and Covid vaccines
  • 6 months to 16 years in a clinical risk* group - Flu only
  • 16 years to 64 years in a clinical risk* group - Flu and Covid vaccines
  • Frontline & Social Care health workers - Flu (where no occupational health scheme available) + Covid vaccines
  • Carers - over 16 - Flu and Covid vaccines
  • Pregnant women - Flu and Covid vaccines
  • Care home residents

*Clinical risk group under 65 for Flu and Covid vaccines, Chronic conditions include: Kidney, heart, respiratory, liver, neurological (not stroke/TIA), Diabetics, immunosuppressed, Asplenic patients. 

Children age 2 and 3 years olds will be given and invited in by the practice, towards the end of September 2024.

Children aged 4-11 years old will be eligible for the nasal flu vaccine as part of the universal programme offered in schools - this will not be provided by the surgery.

Children aged 11-15 years old that fall into an AT RISK category e.g. asthmatic or diabetic, or who have a suppressed immune system, will be eligible for the nasal flu vaccine and will be invited by text or telephone to have this in the surgery if they can not have it at school for any reason.

If you are housebound or are currently unable to leave your home, please be advised that the District Nurses will be in contact with you to arrange a date for their vist. 

The sooner you have the flu vaccination, the sooner you are protected. Please see the above link to a poster for more information regarding the Flu vaccine schedule for 2024.

CARE HOME PATIENTS 

All care homes will be contacted to gather consent from residents for both covid and flu. We will be commencing vaccinating from end of September once we have received the vaccines.
